Support Of Product
========================
I just want to ensure those that decide to register this product
that Dale and I will do our very best to help you with any problems
you might encounter. We will also keep MsgCat updated to the
current Wildcat release. I want to make it clear that MsgCat is
supported by Dale and I, and if you have a problem you should make
an effort to contact one of us, after all who knows the program
better than the two of us.
Warranty
==============
This product is provided "As Is" without warranty of any kind. The
entire risk as to the results and performance of the program is
assumed by you. Furthermore, I the author do not warrant,
guarantee, or make any representations regarding the use of, or the
results of the use of the program, and you rely on the program and
results solely at your own risk. I the author cannot accept
responsibility for system damage, loss of profit, or any other
special, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from the
use or inability to use this product.
Copyright
===============
MsgCat is distributed under the SHAREWARE concept. Under this
concept you may use the SHAREWARE version for a reasonable period
of time, which is thirty days. After which you must either
register your copy or discontinue usage.
Distribution
==================
You are free, in fact encouraged, to distribute the SHAREWARE
(unregistered) version of MsgCat provided that all files contained
in the original MSGCATx.ZIP archive are distributed in their
original unmodified state.
What MsgCat Does
====================
If you have used the scanfile.bat feature in Wildcat, you know what
a powerful feature it is. I thought it would be nice though if when
a file failed the scan that the sysop would be notified via a message
that the file did fail, what the file's name is, and who the uploader
was. Plus a message to the uploader that the uploaded file failed.
I also thought it would be nice if the file passed the scan that
the uploader get a personal thank you message. That is what MsgCat
does....and now much more too!
How To Use UserCat
========================
The use of MsgCat is very simple. Infact its almost too easy. All
you need to do is put MsgCat in ANY directory (It doesnt have to
go in your WC30 directory we all know you already have 200+ files
there already)
MsgCat has a total of four command line parameters. The first is always
the conference number you wish to have the message placed in. The second
is always the switch you wish to use (SCAN or IMPORT).
If using the SCAN switch then the third is the uploaded file's name (%1)
If using the IMPORT switch then this names a text file which contains a
list of user's to send the message to. WC-Pro! does this quite nicely using
the user name only in a fixed length output. Although you can enter them
by hand with any text editor.
The fourth is the name of the text file to send to the user(s). The actual
text file must reside in the home directory. Although you can put *.IMP
files in the message area and have your text file import them too. I have
encluded several examples. If using the IMPORT switch keep in mind that
the user list file must also reside in the home directory.
MsgCat [conf#] [SCAN or IMPORT] [filename or userlist] [text to send]
If you use the SCAN switch then the file name for a non-failed file
must be called OK.TXT and for a failed file be called BAD.TXT
The registered version of MsgCat has an additional feature that when
no command line parameters are used you are supplied with a edit
screen where you can send a message to all user's with a certain
security level.
The Sharware version will not be updated or enhanced. The
shareware version gives you everything that is neccessary to
evaluate it and see that it will work on your system. The
Registered version will continue to be enhanced and new features
added to it. If you have a suggestion and would like to see it in
MsgCat then leave either Dale or I a message and we will do
everything possible to satisfy your request.
MsgCat LICENSING AND DISTRIBUTION AGREEMENT
=============================================
You may not incorporate parts of MsgCat into other programs
with out written permission from Mike Ortiz or Dale Fedorchik.
Permission may or may not be granted based upon a determination of
your intended use.
You must keep this License Agreement intact and give any other
recipients of the MsgCatx.ZIP program a copy of this License
Agreement along with the program.
Special Bonus
===================
As an added benefit I am giving free access to my BBS to any
registered users of MsgCat. The Software Connection can be used
for Support on MsgCat, Wildcat 3.0, and any Utilities for 3.0, I
Have 6 lines Locked at 19.2 See the Begining of this document to
see which line will fit you best. The Support System has roughly
6.5 gigs Of Space, over 45,000 files, Lots Of Wildcat Utilities and
Doors. So With your registration you not only get a good program
but great place for support, questions, and plenty of files to post
on your own BBS. All have been scanned With CatScan (The Best file
Scanner for Wildcat 3.x).
